KISS sponsors YOPEY Awards

Recognising the unsung young heroes in our local community doing the most incredible altruistic acts of kindness, KISS Communications is delighted to sponsor Cambridgeshire’s Young People of the Year (YOPEY) for 2015.

This is the third consecutive year that the Cambridge-based creative communications agency has sponsored the awards and, as gold sponsor, the awards will be called KISS Communications Young People of the Year 2015.

Held annually in London and several counties throughout the UK, YOPEY aims to reveal, recognise and reward young heroes, highlighting people aged from 10 to 25 who are actively contributing to their community, honouring them publicly, and rewarding the very best. The charity strives to give young people in the UK a fairer image in society.

All entries for YOPEY come from different backgrounds and organisations such as schools, charities, churches and youth clubs. They have been nominated by friends, family and teachers and can even enter themselves.

This year, for the first time, there will be at least two Young People of the Year in Cambridgeshire. A senior YOPEY, aged 18-25, winning £500, and a junior YOPEY, aged 10-17, winning £300. Either prize can be won by an individual or group and the winners have to invest most of their winnings in their good cause but can keep £100 to treat themselves. There will also be several runners-up prizes.

All finalists will be promoted as positive role models with the hope that they inspire their peers and the next generation to follow.

Simon Fryer, CEO at KISS, said: “We are strong believers in supporting the region’s younger generation and are delighted to be sponsoring such a fantastic charity and event. For the last few years, the awards have left us humbled by the amazing stories of courage and determination of the finalists, often in the face of adversity; they are succeeding and giving back so much to charities, their communities or families.

Tony Gearing, founder of YOPEY, said: “We are very pleased to have KISS Communications aboard as our gold sponsor for 2015. Without the help of KISS and our other Cambridgeshire sponsors we would not be able to do our work finding and promoting positive role models to inspire the younger generation.”

Other YOPEY sponsors include Lifeplus Europe of Eaton Socon, Hutchinson of Wisbech, Spearhead International of Burwell, Cambridge Regional College, TTP Group, ARM, Stratagem, and exams group Cambridge Assessment.
