Is your CMS up to date?
Umbraco 7 reached End of Life (EOL) in September 2023 - meaning Umbraco will no longer provide official support, security patches or updates for beyond this EOL date. Is it time to update your CMS?
As an Umbraco Silver Partner with experience in versions 7, 8, 10 and 11 we can support you in transitioning to a new, supported CMS. You need to do this in plenty of time to ensure change is as seamless as possible.
What could happen if you run an unsupported CMS? Here’s what you need to know:
When a CMS reaches its EOL, the vendor will no longer release security updates or patches for that version. This can leave your website vulnerable to security threats and attacks as any weaknesses in the CMS will no longer be addressed through updates.
As technology advances, older CMS versions may no longer be compatible with newer operating systems, browsers, or devices. This can cause poor user experience or website malfunctions.
When a CMS reaches its EOL, the vendor will no longer provide technical support for that version – so if something goes wrong with your website, there will no longer be advice helplines.
If your organisation operates in a regulated industry, such as healthcare or finance, it’s likely you’re obligated to comply with certain regulations regarding their website. Using an outdated CMS that is no longer supported could result in significant risk of non-compliance.
Without regular updates and security fixes to your CMS, your website will become vulnerable to these potential security risks and compatibility issues with newer technologies.
